Whether it was sunbathing, lunch outside or even mini golf, New Yorkers took advantage of the record-breaking warmth Wednesday.

"It was a dark winter. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel," Matt Pinover said on his lunch break near the Hudson River on the West Side.

Bryant Park was packed with people eating lunch outside on a day that saw Central Park hit 77, trouncing the old record of 69 set in 2000.

"The sun is shining. Everyone is out. Everyone seems a little bit happier. Sunshine just brings out the best in people," Portia Jones said on her lunch break.

Over on Coney Island, the rides and games weren't open yet but people didn't care.

New Yorkers walked the boardwalk and soaked up the sun on the sand.

One group that calls themselves the "Coney Icons" was having its first gathering of the year.

"The first warm day we're all out here. We all meet. We call each other up and come down," longtime member Joe Battz said.

The men have been meeting on the Coney Island boardwalk for decades. "We celebrate our friendship, celebrate Coney Island," Battz said.
